As NYC’s design review agency, the Public Design Commission is an advocate on behalf of innovation, sustainability, and equitability in New York’s public realm. PDC worked meticulously with BKSK to develop a strong indoor-outdoor relationship between building and landscape. The project is imbued with materials, biodiversity, and connections that embody the educational philosophy of the building.
Congratulations to Jonathan Marvel, Lissa So, and the whole Marvel team!
The AIANY WIA Committee hosted an incredible event at A’23 in San Francisco, sold out with 250+ attendees on June 9, 2023. A’23 Equity for Women in Architecture: A Coast-to-Coast-Exchange brought together Women in Architecture (WIA), Women in Design (WID), and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committees from across the country to share their most effective programs and initiatives supporting women’s advancement in the profession.
“When it comes to performing arts venues and architectural design, New York City is hard to beat. The stages, museums, art galleries and concert halls that are home to our cultural enterprises each have their own innovations and challenges: acoustics, ceiling heights and seating, to name a few. And all of these details have to reconcile with the political environment and institutional imperatives — not to mention budget costs. Digging into the complex intersection of architecture and performance, LM Live hosted a conversation with some of the city’s leading architects at the Studio inside 7 World Trade Center.”
