As NYC’s design review agency, the Public Design Commission is an advocate on behalf of innovation, sustainability, and equitability in New York’s public realm. PDC worked meticulously with BKSK to develop a strong indoor-outdoor relationship between building and landscape. The project is imbued with materials, biodiversity, and connections that embody the educational philosophy of the building.
The AIANY WIA Committee hosted an incredible event at A’23 in San Francisco, sold out with 250+ attendees on June 9, 2023. A’23 Equity for Women in Architecture: A Coast-to-Coast-Exchange brought together Women in Architecture (WIA), Women in Design (WID), and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committees from across the country to share their most effective programs and initiatives supporting women’s advancement in the profession.
“When it comes to performing arts venues and architectural design, New York City is hard to beat. The stages, museums, art galleries and concert halls that are home to our cultural enterprises each have their own innovations and challenges: acoustics, ceiling heights and seating, to name a few. And all of these details have to reconcile with the political environment and institutional imperatives — not to mention budget costs. Digging into the complex intersection of architecture and performance, LM Live hosted a conversation with some of the city’s leading architects at the Studio inside 7 World Trade Center.”

Richmond shares conceptual renderings from 4 finalists for City Center development project
Marvel and the Richmond Community Development Partners are one of four finalists selected for the Richmond City Center project. Their proposal provides downtown Richmond with new mixed-use, mixed-income city square - a focal point for residents and visitors to experience together.
Responding to the rhythm and texture of the historic Jackson Ward neighborhood, Marvel’s design of the Convention Center Hotel and street level podium break from the fabric of urban renewal that it seeks to replace. The result of this collaborative and locally designed proposal is one that weaves sustainability throughout, prioritizing walkability as well as incorporating sustainable design and building practices from the onset. As a cornerstone for Downtown Richmond, Marvel hopes to complement the history of the district, enabling opportunities for hospitality, commercial and residential assets.
