We're in this together

As we stay at home doing our part to ‘flatten the curve’ - anticipating what awaits us on the other side of this global pandemic - we want you know that we are committed to staying connected and supporting each other so that we may tap into our collective resilience. We want you to know that we are thinking of you, and we want to remind you that The Mentoring Seminar Series for Women Entering the Profession of Architecture is a community and a resource. We are grateful for your engagement in this community and we are here to serve you. We would love to hear from you to know that you are well and we invite you to tap into the resource if you have the need. Many of you have our direct contact information as well as each others’. Don’t hesitate to use that information. Our mentors have been through multiple recessions before, and have always made it to the other side. Reach out to them to ask how they made it through. Stay engaged with the community by leaving questions, or comments, on our forum post - Ask us a question... Do not give up on architecture.  We will prevail!

At this time, we are unsure whether our May 7th Seminar with Claire Weisz and Nancy Kleppel will be possible in the traditional format. We are exploring the possibility of a virtual format in hopes of keeping our commitment to you. We will provide an update on this as soon as we possibly can.

We are hoping that you, your families and friends are all in good health and good spirits.

Sincerely,

Anik, Nancy & Angelique

The November House Beautiful Issue Features Anik Pearson!

Coming soon to magazine racks and book shelves…

House Beautiful features the Salt Gulch Ranch project in the town of Boulder Utah, where Anik is both the Architect and Interior Designer. This unique new house for a master of iron work is in a remote and pristine location, where sensitivity to the site, fire resistance and energy efficiency are paramount. Be sure to pick up a copy. Let us know what you think.

One of the complaints of young women in the field of architecture is a lack of role models. To attack that from all ends, it’s important to shine a light on the work of women architects, especially to a wider audience outside of the professional community. So many women are doing wonderful work that isn’t being seen. It’s always a moment of celebration to see our work being recognized publicly. Thank you to House Beautiful!

As part of the celebration, post the name of a women architect you want to shine a light on and name your favorite project of hers.

Thank you to the AIA Women in Architecture Committee for having us!!

Thank you to Vivian Lee, AIA WIA Committee Co-Chair, Beyer, Blinder & Belle, the host, and all of the women in the committee for allowing us a few moments to introduce our seminar series at their monthly committee meeting. The agenda for the meeting was densely packed with upcoming events highlighting the achievements of women practitioners and opportunities to mentor. It was inspiring to be in attendance.

Keep up with the work Vivian and her team are doing at https://www.aiany.org/committees/women-in-architecture/
